Fabrics from UK mills, merchants and designers are on display at the ongoing Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics which includes traditional Yorkshire worsted fabrics, heritage Scottish textiles, new wool qualities, exquisite cashmere, luxurious mohair, decorative tweeds and a new machine washable wool denim, alongside innovative plant-based waxed fabrics.

The UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT) is supporting the UK textile industry to promote their fabrics at one of the biggest and most comprehensive apparel fabric and accessories exhibitions in the world.

Founded in 1896, Dugdale Bros & Co is the last remaining independently owned English cloth merchant in Huddersfield. Dugdale is thrilled to be showing some of its finest autumn/winter fabrics and is hoping that participating will further extend its distribution in the region.

The collection by John Foster encompasses worsted suiting fabrics, but also jackets and blazers as the market moves to a more relaxed dress code. The styling is playful and is focused on colour and rooted in nature and surroundings.

Weaving some of the world’s finest luxury cloth for over 125 years, Standeven is presenting its stock supported patterns exclusively available for tailors as a cut length service. The mill’s in-house design team takes inspiration from its extensive cloth archives to constantly introduce new bunches. Standeven ensures all cloth is manufactured to the highest possible standards through its own mill, with the maker and wearer in mind.

Linton Tweeds produces luxurious, fancy tweed fabrics in innovative woven structures, for fashion houses around the world. This season’s collection is offering a wide range of qualities from classics to highly decorative. Patterns range from all-over textures to large checks and geometrics, in complicated dobby and posileno structures, in a myriad of colours and surface interest.

Environmental responsibility is at the forefront of the latest developments at Halley Stevensons. The EverWax range is showing the next generation of sustainable fibres and finishes, from plant-based waxes to waxes derived from post recycled plastics. Sustainability and development are woven into the integrity of the Halley Stevenson business, a legacy the company is committed to continue.

This time, Holland & Sherry has put up a brand new machine washable wool denim quality – one of the first of its kind, designed especially for custom made garments. Since 1836 Holland & Sherry weavers and merchants have provided bespoke tailors and luxury apparel brands with the finest clothes in the world.

Prickly Thistle is mainland Scotland’s youngest and furthest north mill, weaving 21st century tartan on century-old looms. Debuting in Shanghai, Thistle is sharing sustainable fabrics which have its story, purpose and values woven into them.

Whitehill & Wilsons are showing their comprehensive range of stock supported and made to order fabrics. Also exhibiting at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics this season are Abraham Moon & Sons, Fairbairn & Wolf Studio, Huddersfield Cloth, Huddersfield Fine Worsteds, Marling & Evans, Harris Tweed Hebrides and Johnstons of Elgin, UKFT said in a press release.
